Metal Roofs are commonly made of stainless steel, aluminum, zinc, copper, and aluminum. This roof comes in different sizes by its gauge, the higher the gauge the thinner it is and different styles like corrugated sheets, panels, shingles, and even tile. However, as metal roofs become popular, there have been a lot of misconceptions about them.

Here are some myths about metal roofs and will confirm them for you!

Metal Roofs: Everything You Need To Know

1. It attracts lightning.

It is understandable that many think that metal roofs attract lightning because metals are electrical conductors. However, it is unlikely to happen because lighting follows the path of least resistance and mostly strikes the tallest. And if it happens, since a metal roof is a conductor, it will just spread out the electrical energy safely and non-combustible which is impossible to cause a fire when hit. Many metal roofing systems also consider grounding your roof so if ever lightning strikes your roof, it will only transfer to the ground.
